Cognitive Development
Exploration, cause and effect, problem-solving, memory, early concepts, and curiosity are encouraged through hands-on experiences.

OUR APPROACH
The earliest years are filled with extraordinary growth. At Little Lambs Christian Academy, we create nurturing experiences that support each child’s mind, body, heart, and character—with excellence rooted in Christ.
SCHEDULE A TOURHOW CHILDREN LEARN
Young children learn by exploring, moving, communicating, imitating, creating, and building secure relationships with caring adults. Our teachers use purposeful play and responsive interactions to turn everyday moments into meaningful opportunities for growth.
Rather than rushing children toward the next stage, we meet them where they are developmentally and provide thoughtful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, communication, independence, and joy in learning.
WHOLE-CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Our classroom experiences intentionally support interconnected areas of early development.
Development doesn’t happen in separate boxes. Movement supports thinking. Relationships strengthen language. Play encourages problem-solving. Communication builds connection. Character grows through everyday experiences.
Exploration, cause and effect, problem-solving, memory, early concepts, and curiosity are encouraged through hands-on experiences.
Conversation, songs, stories, gestures, vocabulary, listening, and early literacy experiences help children learn to understand and express themselves.
Daily opportunities for movement support gross-motor skills, fine-motor coordination, body awareness, healthy routines, and growing independence.
Warm relationships, predictable routines, co-regulation, empathy, and age-appropriate guidance help children develop security and belonging.
Music, art, sensory experiences, dramatic play, and open-ended materials give children meaningful ways to discover and create.
Through everyday interactions, children are introduced to ways of loving, serving, forgiving, showing kindness, and respecting others as Jesus taught.
LEARNING TO LIVE LIKE JESUS
For infants and toddlers, Christ-like character development begins with what they experience and observe. Teachers model the teachings and example of Jesus through loving care, patient guidance, prayer, stories, encouragement, sharing, helping, forgiveness, gratitude, and service to others.
RESPONSIVE CARE
Children learn best when they feel safe, secure, and understood. Our teachers work to know each child’s personality, cues, routines, strengths, interests, and developmental needs. That knowledge guides how we comfort, communicate, challenge, redirect, and celebrate them.
Especially in the infant and toddler years, caregiving moments—feeding, diapering, transitions, rest, and comforting—are not interruptions to learning. They are opportunities to build trust, language, independence, and connection.
“Every child deserves to be known individually, loved genuinely, and nurtured intentionally.”
THE LITTLE LAMBS PROMISEOUR APPROACH IN ACTION
Our philosophy becomes meaningful in the everyday moments when a child needs comfort, becomes curious, is ready for more, or needs loving guidance.
WHEN A CHILD NEEDS COMFORT
We respond with warmth, patience, and consistency—because emotional security creates the foundation from which children can explore, connect, and learn.
WHEN A CHILD BECOMES CURIOUS
We notice what captures their attention and create opportunities to investigate, experiment, communicate, and discover through purposeful play.
WHEN A CHILD IS READY FOR MORE
New ideas, materials, questions, movement, and experiences encourage curiosity and emerging skills while respecting each child’s individual pace of development.
WHEN A CHILD NEEDS GUIDANCE
Age-appropriate redirection, modeling, encouragement, and connection help children begin developing self-regulation, empathy, and respect for others.
FAMILY PARTNERSHIP
Families know their children best. We want communication between home and Little Lambs to be consistent, respectful, and useful. Teachers share meaningful information about the child’s day while families help us understand routines, preferences, milestones, and changes at home.
Our goal is a genuine partnership in which families feel welcomed, informed, and confident about the care and development their child receives.
OBSERVE • DOCUMENT • SUPPORT
Our teachers observe children during authentic play and daily routines, document meaningful growth, and use those observations to plan appropriate next experiences. Developmental information helps us celebrate progress, understand emerging skills, and communicate thoughtfully with families.
OBSERVE
Notice interests, emerging skills, relationships and developmental progress.
PLAN
Use what we learn to create experiences that support each child’s next steps.
PARTNER
Share progress with families and keep communication centered on the individual child.
SAFE • NURTURING • PREPARED
A strong learning environment begins with safety and attentive care. Our operating practices are designed around appropriate supervision, secure routines, cleanliness, prepared staff, age-appropriate environments, and clear family communication.
THE LITTLE LAMBS DIFFERENCE
Our approach is intentionally child-centered, relationship-driven, developmentally appropriate, and rooted in the example of Jesus.
We seek to understand the child behind the behavior—their personality, cues, interests, strengths, routines, and needs.
We encourage meaningful growth while respecting that development unfolds differently for every child.
Our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared and our days have dependable rhythms, while teachers remain responsive to the children in front of them.
Our Christian identity isn’t limited to a lesson or activity. The example of Jesus shapes how we care, encourage, forgive, serve, speak, and respond to one another.
